Last Year I received this email…

“Dear Paula,

After huge encouragement from my friend I have decided that “nothing ventured, nothing gained”.

Some weeks ago I watched a TV article on older ladies becoming fashion models and it got my imagination going. In fact the idea of it was very exciting. In October I shall be 70 and it’s time for my next chapter/adventure. I believe I look good for that age, I’m fit, healthy and full of life, love fashion and new challenges. I also believe it can be very inspirational for others to aspire to becoming healthier and not give into ‘age” It is, after all just a number.

So, I guess the first thing would be to get together photographs and research contacts and agencies. Could we possibly make an appointment where you could give me your ‘honest’ opinion, advice and arrange to do a photo shoot please. You may even have done this for other ladies with the same crazy idea. lol

I just knew I had to meet this fab lady, but Aileen went MIA and then I received this…

“I would still love to have a chat with you but my confidence started going downhill and I started having the usual doubts that goes with getting older. I’m sure you know all the thoughts that go through our minds and how we start to second guess ourselves …

I still love the idea that I had when I first wrote to you and having followed the beautiful work that you do, I’m sure that you could even produce some miracles doing photos of me. However, having thought about it, I wouldn’t know where to start to make my little dream a reality.”

When we met I was instantly engaged with Aileen, her story, her spark and her vulnerability. And after a while I was able to coerce her into putting up her hand, relenting and saying yes to herself & to her dreams. And to putting aside all the doubts that were creeping in.

And look at what we created together… :):)

And best of all, last week I received this from Aileen…

“Magic happened!! Paula created a whole new view of who I could be. She lifted my self confidence sky high, made me believe in myself. stand tall, smile again and have the courage to “go for it” 

I was blown away and speechless when I saw the images..no longer just seeing myself as an old lady.

You and Katie gave me the boost to my confidence to get out of my comfort zone and try a whole range of different things.

And last week I modelled in the INNOOSA Fashion Parade”

Woo hoo you go Aileen, I am so stocked. I knew you had it in you!
