March 10, 2015
Well we celebrated in style on Sunday 8th March – International Women’s Day – 30 gorgeous carers came together for a beautiful afternoon of pampering, spoiling, eating, drinking and lots of chatting, as we girlies tend to do when put in a room together. The event was an absolute hit, and the energy in the room was just so beautiful, it really was a pretty special afternoon.
As each lady came up the elevator to see the spectacular ocean views, (marred only by the line of massage chairs and therapists waiting to send these ladies into relaxation heaven), the look on their faces was priceless. They were given a glass of bubbly and sent on their way to choose from a range or pampering services and a chance to connect with each other, followed by a delicious lunch.
Big shout out to the staff at the 4th Floor Mooloolaba who went above and beyond, allowing us to reinvent half of their restaurant into pamper stations, emptying and refilling buckets of water in between service, and all without a single objection. Also massive shout out to all the volunteers, who gave up a good couple of hours on what was a stellar Sunny Coast day, and gave each woman a truly memorable experience.
Thank you thank you again to all the generous sponsors, who contributed to getting the women the respite services needed to be able to enjoy such a day, and also to the kind hearted businesses who donated goodies and prizes.
Thank you to Di & Tina from My Weekly Preview for all your help on the day, and biggest thank you to Stephanie from Equity Works who put it all together (with a small bit of help from me 🙂
As one of the lovely carers Robyn commented,
“Sometimes in the day to day of caring for those that we love, we can feel unheard, unappreciated, unimportant. WE ARE NOT these things, but we can FEEL this way. A day like this lets us know that there are those who genuinely care about US”
I know I speak for everyone involved when I say were all just so happy to contribute to this day for these ladies who really appreciated, enjoyed and let’s be frank, deserve it.
