Happy Fabulous 40
So last year for the Hot Mumma contest I featured the fabulous Kate – who just embodied fab HOT MUMMA to me. And it was quite funny, that this year I decided to feature Kate’s lifelong best friend – the fabulous Kellie C. I will be quite honest here, I did not intentionally do this, but I did revel in the irony!
So Kellie’s mum actually gifted her the shoot with me for her birthday, as she wanted her to have the same experience Kate did the year before. And I know how many buttons it pushed in Kellie to come along for the shoot. I especially think when mums come on their own it can be quite challenging to put your hand up and say you want it, and also to allow yourself permission, or to feel that you deserve a day of indulgence, just because!
But OH BOY – I know it is so worth the slight moment of discomfort leading up to the shoot, because the experience itself is so fun (who doesn’t like being pampered?) and the results can be life changing!
Here Kellie tells about her experience with me…
“The session was a gift from my Mum. Leading up to the shoot – I was freaking out, kilos were going on instead of coming off!! Skin was breaking out..and I was TOTALLY in denial about being 40!!!
It had been a whirlwind few months for me – I was busy at work, trying to reshape my curves…. BUT I had also had a wonderful new man enter into my life!
I found meeting Paula was just like catching up with a old girlfriend and chatting about everyday stuff, she was awesome!!
When I first saw my photos, it was kind of overwhelming seeing photos of just ME on that huge screen, but once we went back over them…I was actually blown away – I couldn’t believe THAT WAS ME!!
Since the shoot I am loving myself sick in these photos…I show anyone who will stand still for more than 1 minute AND I now have my very own APP!!!
I really have shifted the way I see myself, I now realise that….I am 40 and FABULOUS!!! The experience has been so valuable to me as I actually let my pending age destroy most of my year last year…felt old, unaccomplished, fat, unattractive and very unfun.
I would say to anyone thinking of doing this for themselves DO IT!! – You deserve to feel free and beautiful, and your photos are the perfect souvenir of a day where you got to be a ‘Star’ (even if it’s only for a minute).”
And Kellie also write me a message saying, “Paula, Thank You from the bottom of my heart. Your ‘Hello’ hug, huge smile, positive & fun vibe, supportive reinforcement and glass of bubbly, made for a fantastic experience with a result that has honestly changed the way I see ME!!”
I am actually tearing up as I type here, that just makes my heart smile 🙂
