One of my favourite group to photograph is 3 generations. Having lost all of my grandparents who I was pretty close to, it is always a little emotional for me.
I just love the relationship my mum and Aria have, they are like two peas in a pod and I just know that whenever she is with my mum, she is getting showered with the same amount of unconditional love as I give to her (and way more treats).
Louise has two little angels and she freely admitted to me that she is just obsessed with playing dressups and taking cute photos with them
Cause she is not in her photos of course.
So this brings me to my question…
Put your hand up if you are one of them… MEEEEEEE
Yep even I who has camera in hand for 20-30 hours per week has to confess there are months, actually seasons where I am missing from my camera roll in my iPhone, GUILTY
Recently I have gotten so much better, but I can improve more and am trying, seriously I promise
I was so happy when Louise and her mum came back in to look at their gorgeous collection, that they not only chose some great images of them with the girls, but they selected to purchase prints of themselves individually (YAY big fat win) aswell.
They totally rocked it, looked and felt amazing and wanted great images to celebrate who they are, where they are at for themselves & their own mother/daughter relationship.
Here’s an even better one, Louise & Jenny chose only images that had either of them in the photo.
Why? Because they realized the long term value to those young girls of having photos with them in it. As Louise told me after,
This means I finally have some lovely photos of me and my girls. They are growing up so fast and I have a permanent reminder of us and this time of their lives.
So mum’s
Step out from behind the iPhone
Put yourself out there
Celebrate every moment, for this is your time
Learn to love the camera, if not for your self just for your children.
If your camera confidence needs a boost see my guide below if you want some helpful tips on how to look great in photos
I just know that one day your kids will be so thankful to have precious memories of their mother being there, with them at every stage of their life, not just when she felt GOOD ENOUGH to be photographed.
