Today your personal brand – YOUR PRESENCE – is more important than ever in your business. There are so many possible touch points online that it is vital to refresh regularly, not only for your clients but also for your own business mojo.
Yet with all the “busyness” I myself know how super easy it is to forget to maintain your personal presence within your business and procrastinate about ‘fixing’ the issue for many reasons.
The usual suspects…
and the biggie…
These simple and very low cost tips will help you to get on your way…
It is really easy to get stuck in the mindset of achieving targets and getting more new customers, that often I think as busy entrepreneurs it is easy forget what it is that we are really doing for our loyal customers. Writing a list of what YOU uniquely do for your clients, what problems you know you genuinely solve for them and how you can better serve them, is a quick way to help to redefine your personal brand and revitalize your passion for what you do.
Struggling to find the words? Ask your clients. By sending out testimonial requests with leading questions to elicit the exact answers you want, you will not only get some great fan letters to go out to work as social proof of your work and quality, but you will also have a chance to glean the problems, wants and desires of your most loyal clients, so you can in turn serve them better in the future.
Win/Win really.
If you have a website, when was the last time you checked through it to make sure it is current and relevant?
This one does not need to cost lots of money – really! Simply making sure that your home, about & sales pages on your site speak authentically and effectively to your target audience is the perfect way to refresh without having to start from scratch all over again (which we entrepreneurs seem to think we need to do!
Try re-writing your bio so that it sounds more conversational – more you, and effectively lets potential clients know what they will get from choosing you rather than what you do. Try using some of the language from your raving testimonials to help with this one if you get stuck.
When was the last time you checked out your profiles on your social media channels? These are now like our online business cards, and a direct way to connect with you. If they contain outdated (or eeek worse) wrong information they could serving to lose potential clients without you even being aware.
Also make sure your language and content varies across the platforms to adapt to the audience and culture, for example you can be a lot less informal and ditch the resume on facebook where as on LinkedIn it is great to have a slightly more formal approach to the language and layout.
Outdated images today are a no no, and even if you can’t afford to get these done professionally, make sure the images you show are indicative of your personality and how you present in your business day to day (please please please avoid generic and cheesy).
People are so voyeuristic and just love to see what you get up to, so often sharing behind the scenes, product & workplace snaps is more endearing and will resonate will your current customer base & attract new fans to you and your business.
No more excuses for a broken down jalopy of a personal brand. Remember if you feel your presence in your business is a little tired, outdated or in need of updating, your clients and potential customers are most definitely feeling it too.
Time to fire up so you can move forward with confidence and kick some serious goals.
