I believe sharing experiences with those you love definitely increases the joy in the moment. But more than that I believe it intensifies the memory of that experience after time.
I recently came across this Swedish proverb
“Shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow is half a sorrow”
And straight away I thought of these special two friends, Jan & Renee who I photographed recently.
I can tell that in their friendship they always lift each other up. That they support each other unconditionally, and genuinely want to see the best for the other.
Jan knew Renee would adore to capture this moment in time with her family, and bought her something that I suspect Renee may never have bought for herself.
You know ladies, most of us women do not or would not think of putting our hand up to say we want to feel good about ourselves, indulging in an experience just for us (with the kids put second place – just for a moment).
However how lovely for Jan to recognize this for Renee, buying her a shoot experience with me!
And Renee being the great friend she is, invited Jan to come along for the shoot with her. To enjoy the makeover and have a laugh celebrating with her friend.
I definitely think for these two ladies the sharing made for double joy!
Just a handful of the massive collection we created together…
