I love photographing women over 40.

I didn’t fear turning 40 myself, actually I spent the few years before the big event looking forward to it.

Because of my time spent capturing women of a certain age I knew that there was so much to look forward to in my 40’s and beyond.

In my opinion based on my observations.. It seems the decade when women finally don’t give a f*%k what the world thinks of them and start living their lives on their own terms.

This is not to say this can’t or doesn’t happen before this time.

There just seems to be a knowing and a confidence that comes from experience.

You may not bend and flex quite like you used to. In fact it probably feels more like creaking most mornings.

It takes a lot more work (if and when you can be bothered) to keep it all from sliding south than it used to.

And the stack of beauty products (and the hit on your wallet) my be growing daily on your bathroom shelf.

But none of that seems to matter to me much in terms of aesthetics. Because what time on this earth helps you to cultivate is a strong sense self and a strong mind.

Pretty much every woman I meet, shares they wish they could have appreciated their younger (physical) self more. But I like to think that any self doubting and disbelief from previous decades was all a lead up to a magnificent next chapter.

If you are feeling a bit lost inside of yourself. If you are searching and trying to find yourself. Know you have everything within you lovely and this is your time.

I see you lady, you fabulous, experienced, strong, independent, fierce creature, who has lived through life’s challenges.
